MTSU Sustainable Campus Fee Program
Originally known as the Clean Energy Fee, the MTSU Sustainable Campus Fee Program was established through a student-initiated fee, administered by the Division of Student Affairs, and backed by the Tennessee Board of Regents. Its primary goal is to reduce non-renewable energy consumption on campus.
A portion of the fee is allocated for purchasing ‘green power,’ enabling the generation of electricity from clean sources like wind, solar, and methane gas as alternatives to traditional energy.
The remainder of the funds support campus initiatives aimed at enhancing energy efficiency, such as retrofitting outdated systems, reducing overall consumption, and lowering energy costs. All approved projects promote energy and environmental sustainability.
Funding is available for registered student organizations and university departments. To request project funding from the MTSU Sustainable Campus Fee Program, please complete the project funding request form applicable to your submission and send it to the Center for Energy Efficiency. You can email your request to cee@mtsu.edu, fax it to 615-904-8093, or mail it to MTSU Box 57.

SCF Project Funding started in 2006!
Originally called the Clean Energy Fee, funded by a fee initiated by the student body, administered by the Division of Student Affairs, and supported by the Tennessee Board of Regents, the intent of the MTSU Sustainable Campus Fee Program is to decrease consumption on the campus of non-renewable energy.
A portion of the fee is designated for purchasing ‘green power’ to facilitate production of electricity from wind, solar power, and methane gas as a clean alternative to traditional energy sources.
The remainder of the funds generated by the fee provides support for campus projects that increase or improve energy efficiency on campus, such as retrofitting older systems, lowering consumption and decreasing energy expenses.
Projects approved support energy and environmental sustainability.
